Chapter 14
21 Rehoboam son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD chose to put his name there from all the tribes of Israel. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite. 22 And Judah did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and they provoked him more than all that their fathers did in their sins that they sinned. 23 They also built for themselves high places, pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every luxuriant tree. 24 There was also a cult prostitute in the land. They did all the abominations of the nations that the LORD had dispossessed from before the sons of Israel. 25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt went up against Jerusalem. 26 He took the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the house of the king, everything he took, and all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. 27 King Rehoboam made bronze shields in place of them and appointed the keepers of the entrance of the king's house over the hand of the rulers of the runners. 28 And as soon as the king came to the temple of the LORD, the runners bore them and returned them to the room of the runners. 29 Now the rest of the words of Rehoboam and all that he did—are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days for the Kings of Judah? 30 And there was warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days. 31 Rehoboam lay down with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. His mother was Naamah the Ammonitess, and his son Abijah reigned in his place.
